Molteni version of the Belgian championship jersey. This comfortable, aerodynamic cycling shirt is a replica of the Belgian national champion's jersey. It was worn by two riders from the Molteni team: Eddy Merckx wore it when he joined Molteni in 1971 and Hermann Springel was able to inherit it from his famous teammate after winning the national championship. Hermann flew the tricolor flag of Belgium in 1971-1972.
Eddy Merckx received the black, yellow and red jersey in 1970 when he won the Belgian national championship under the FAEMA flag. When he moved to Molteni the T-shirt moved with him and the name Molteni appeared on it. In 1971, his teammate Herman van Springel won the national title on Molteni and took over the Eddy jersey. Herman Van Springel was a great cyclist who in 1971 became Eddy Merckx's main assistant in the Molteni team. In 1968, Herman finished second in the Tour de France losing to Jan Janssen in the final time trial. Van Springel's nickname is "Monsieur Bordeaux-Paris" - he won this race seven times.
