Model PS-220E made from solid spruce or mahogany combined with a solid mahogany back and sides has an offset cross-shaped profile which has been carefully refined to optimize resonance and tone. Pickup , developed by Fender and Fishman, enhances the tight articulated sound of the new PS-220E cabin body shape while the controls are mounted on the sound hole maintain vintage aesthetics. Body-sensitive pickup under the top enhances soundboard vibrations which can then be mixed with an under-saddle Sonicore pickup.

Updated appearance includes mother-of-pearl inlays on the fretboard in the shape of a snowflake mother-of-pearl edging, rosette and back strap as well as a black or brindle striped pickguard.
