ASICS Tiger, Pensole and Foot Locker team up for collaboration which allowed students from the Pensole Footwear Design Academy to help develop the Gel-Diablo. The "Once Upon a Time in Kobe" design was the winner of a competition between six teams and was inspired by koi textures and silk kimonos.. The shoes are made in gray in navy and sky blue tones made from premium leather and suede with fish scale embossing on the toe and heel. The insole features a koi pattern for a camouflage effect. however, only about 1,000 pairs of shoes were produced.
