Leica introduces a new addition to the M series of cameras - the new M11 model combining the advantages of classic rangefinder cameras and the capabilities of modern technologies. New outwardly very similar to representatives of the previous M10 series. The most significant update to the camera is the new 60-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution technology allowing you to take pictures with high image quality while fully utilizing the optical potential of modern APO lenses of the Leica M system. When shooting at a lower resolution, camera performance and continuous shooting time increase and the weight of files is reduced.
Along with the new sensor, the M11 uses a new ultra-thin filter blocking IR and UV radiation which consists of two ultra-thin glasses connected to each other. According to the company Thanks to an updated array of color filters, the camera provides more natural color reproduction.
The new camera provides an ISO sensitivity range from 64 to 50,000 dynamic range up to 15 stops as well as recording images with a color depth of 14 bits. Powerful Maestro III processor ensures fast performance even at the highest resolutions. Electronics allows shutter speeds up to 1/16,000 s and shooting even in bright sunlight with a lens with a wide open aperture without the use of ND filters. For the first time on an M camera, matrix exposure metering is available when shooting through the rangefinder ensuring accurate exposure even in low light.
As for appearance The main difference between the M11 and its predecessors is the absence of the proprietary Leica bottom panel which had to be removed to load film or replace memory cards and batteries on previous models. Refusal of the bottom panel provided direct access to the battery USB Type-C port and SD card. The volume of built-in memory is 64 GB. M11 became the first camera in the M family with the ability to save images on two media simultaneously. Reported that a battery with a capacity of 1800 mA*h provides energy savings of up to 64%. New universal USB Type-C port allows charging with most available chargers.
