The Ibanez SRMS805 Bass Workshop Multi-Scale five-string bass is a quality instrument designed for experienced musicians. Its poplar/mahogany burl body is attached to a 5-piece jatoba/walnut SRMS4 neck with a panga panga fingerboard medium sized frets and custom inlays with multiple scales. Mono-Rail VS bridge is ideal for fan-fret instruments , allowing each section of the "mini-bridge" strings to be positioned independently providing excellent intonation and superior transmission of string vibration. Electronics include Bartolini BH2-4 pickups for full warm punchy tone and 3-band EQ with bypass switch and mid-range switch for complete control of the sound. unusual, but the biggest surprise may be how comfortable players feel within one or two minutes of playing the instrument. Varying fret to bridge distance improves tonality creating better bass sound. Previously, these instruments could only be purchased from bass manufacturers but now Ibanez is proud to introduce the SRMS805 multi-scale bass at an affordable price. The purpose of a multi-scale system is to provide better tension on each string. Tension helps create more "aliveness" , open tone. The SRMS800 has a scale length of 33 5 inches on the G string side and expands to 34 5" on the E string side. Although a neck with several scales may seem intimidating and unnatural nothing could be further from the truth. Looking at the fretboard from a musician's point of view the exaggerated fret placement will almost disappear and actually seems quite normal. The tilt of the multiscale is ergonomically coordinated with the tilt of the player's hand as it moves up and down your neck providing fast and comfortable gaming action.
