Dean Grogu known as Grogu before being adopted by Din Djarin - a Force-sensitive male Mandalorian belonging to the same unknown race like Grand Master Yoda. Grogu was born around 41 BBY and was raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant as a junior Jedi of the Jedi Order. He survived the Great Jedi Purge and went into hiding for a long time.. During the era of the New Republic, after the fall of the Galactic Empire Grogu discovered one of the Imperial shards in which he was simply nicknamed "The Child". Grogu was eventually freed by Din Djarin , Mandalorian bounty hunter after which he became a Mandalorian foundling. Djarin managed to find the Jedi who would undertake to train Grogu, so he rejoined the Jedi Order under the mentorship of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. However, Skywalker felt that learning the Jedi way is not what Grogu's heart was in so he allowed the student to choose his own destiny and he chose to be a Mandalorian.
