Mullein is a bright, easily recognizable plant with large densely pubescent leaves and tall, majestic flowering stems. Although mullein is native to Europe and Asia it has become naturalized in North America and Asia. It can be found growing in a wide variety of regions from dry and rocky to wastelands and field edges. Mullein is usually two years old that is, it produces seeds in the second year and then dies off. Plants of the first year of life are oval rosettes fluffy, gray-green leaves.
