A collaboration between New York-based Extra Butter and ASICS, the "karaoke version" of the Gel Lyte 5 follows in the footsteps of their previous shoe releases , inspired by films and takes inspiration from Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation. The color scheme is an interpretation of the pink wig and black shirt worn by Scarlett Johansson's character in a memorable karaoke scene and also has a zebra toe reminiscent of the interior motif from this scene. The original shoe releases also included familiar clips from the film including an Extra Butter shot glass and a jar of Extra Butter with a tea bag and cherry eucalyptus lollipops.
