The Epiphone Texan or FT-79 is recognized worldwide as a guitar , which includes Paul McCartney and Peter Frampton wrote some of their biggest hits. But the basic FT-79 design was first put into production in 1942 when Epiphone was based in New York City under the leadership of founder Epi Stathopoulo. The FT-79 was probably the last acoustic instrument which Epi helped develop. After Epiphone merged with Gibson in 1957 The FT-79 was redesigned as the modern Texan and put into production at the legendary Kalamazoo plant. Michigan in the late 50s. Masterbilt Texan FT-79 has the same dimensions like McCartney and Frampton's Texan models from the 60s and features a solid Sitka spruce top with a '60s style fingerboard. The body has a solid mahogany back and sides three-ply ivory trim on top and single-ply ivory trim on the back. Mahogany neck with dovetail joint at the 14th fret has a traditional Slim C-profile
