Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable from the cruciferous family. Broccoli Contains a Unique Class of Phytochemicals , known as glucosinolates including glucoraphanin. When is broccoli eaten? chewing breaks down glucoraphanin with the support of an enzyme called myrosinase. When glucoraphanin and myrosinase are mixed, a compound is formed known as sulforaphane. Solaray Activated Broccoli Seed Extract supplies the enzyme myrosinase to support this process. Freeze-dried broccoli sprouts are added to this formula because they contain both glucosinolates and myrosinase enzymes.
