Quality solid wood ensures timeless sound

Sapele used to make the back and sides of the D-12E tonally similar to mahogany but its higher density produces a slightly brighter sound with higher shimmer. The distinctive sound of sapele is consistently balanced across the tonal spectrum which again makes it suitable for a wide range of performance styles.
